When McAfee VirusScan recognizes a virus in a download file, the virus
is confined. If VirusScan can't "clean" the file, it "deletes" the
file. When a file is "deleted," it's as though it never existed on my
system. When a file is "deleted" the message it's associated with is
left on the mail server. You have to delete the file from the server,
or your system will try to try to "download" it the next time you Get
New Mail; VirusScan will not allow the infected mail to be gotten; the
infected mail will remain on the server; ...

I suspect that Norton AV works like McAfee VirusScan.

To delete the infected file from the mail server --

Select: TheBat! | Account | Dispatch Mail on Server | All Messages
  Uncheck all boxes.
  Find the infected message.
Check the infected message's Delete box.
      Select: Message | Execute

Using The Bat! v1.62 Christmas Edition
on Windows 95 4.0 Build 1111a
