In the synchronisation excercise, the first step is to create a snapshot
of the target system so that it's known what's already on the target
system. The next step is to create the synchronisation data file on the
source system, using the snapshot file of the target system. In this
way, only the data that's not on the target system will be put in the
synchronisation data file. The final step is to get the target system up
to date by using the synchronisation data file.

Sounds like it would be better to simply backup the notebook's
installation and then restore it to the desktop's installation.

SMS> Also, will views and filters synchronize?

Filters will synchronize, as well as templates. However, basic interface
configuration will not be synchronized since both systems may run at
different resolutions. As a result, interface appearance settings have a
high likelihood of being different.
