Hi batters!,

Although this is rather OT, I am sure it will interest many TB
  users.

I have been using free AVG V6.0.515 for months. Excellent.
But now I tried to update to V518 released last Sept 11, following Grisoft advise.
  http://www.grisoft.com
I downloaded file d60330x3.bin to folder UPDATE and restarted AVG.
The program updated itself, but the Control Center is inactive,
and the icon does not appear in the system tray any longer. If I
try to activate it, an error window opens informing that the
program has been modified and it is damaged. It still checks virus,
but without the Control Center the virus list cannot be updated.

I informed Grisoft and asked for help since this seems to be a
bug, although the free version is not entitled to technical
  support. Waiting for reply.

What is now the best course of action? Reinstall the
former version? Uninstall-install? Delete files? Wait and see?
Any advice? Mine is be more cautious than me for updates.

  TIA

Best regards,
Joan Josep
