..this is a viable tactic to stop you from obtaining evidence 
from the device.

..we need to either set a standard on how and what to ask for,
e.g. a list of binaries and their checksums as built from the 
alleged source.  If the check sums match but don't work on the 
device, then we haven't been told the full story, and we have
instead, admissible evidence for perjury, obstruction etc.
