Thanks for the offer!

I do not have the tar ball yet, they are in the process of preparing it.
Once I have it I will let you (and the others who volunteered) know.

But please be aware that the availability of GPL/LGPL sourcecode does
not necessarily mean that you will be able to build a working firmware
from it. Not all parts of the firmware are GPL/LGPL.
But of course the parts provided must be complete and must compile, like
bootloader, kernel etc. This is something we can and should check, indeed.

Thanks again!
I will come back to you as soon as I have something concrete from them.
They seem very interested in the free software matter and promised to do
the very best they can to resolve the situation quickly. So I am
confident that it will not take long for the release to come.

In the same sense I got a call today from one of their lawyers who asked
for hints how to rephrase the download boilerplate text on their
website, which currently restricts free software freedoms, which is of
course a violation in itself. He will provide me with a proposal soon
which I will also copy here so that we can discuss and possibly rephrase
it as we see fit :)

So far I would say Vodafone does a pretty nice job in resolving the
current issue.
