I have to agree that Apple has hosed the latest Airport management
software.  Someone inside Apple saw my blog post and anonymously told me
that all the IPv6 functionality from the prior version *will* appear in the
newer version.

Eventually.

I got the impression that the older version was being replaced as the code
base was rather crufty and difficult to extend; hence the new major release
was seen as necessary to future progress and features.  That's one of the
reasons the older 5.6 version remains available, I guess.

And yes, there are now (12 months later) a lot more IPv6-capable options,
at least in part due to "IPv6 Launch Day" earlier this year.  I encourage
you to try them and report back how they work (udner IPv6 especially).
