I'm running Mountain Lion, 10.8.2; when I download that software and try
to install it, at target disk selection time I get told:

AirPort Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version
of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported.

Searching the Apple support KB, there's no sign of a version for
Mountain Lion.

I have my personal Macbook, running Snow Leopard still, but there's a
point where you just have to accept deprecation schedules and plan a way
out that's supported. For me, that was getting the Airport out of my
network and replacing it with a *nix_firmware-supporting simultaneous
dual-band WiFi router. Which lets me ssh in.
