Hi Jay, Thanks for your advice. Someone suggested that it may be 680 Ohm (with the red indicating 2% - common with RCA flameproof) and I suppose you would disregard the white band.
Andrews Electronics has one in stock, so I ordered it and will check the resistance tomorrow when I get it. I hope it's very rare that those selected resistors are used.
