Using Acrobat 9 under Ubuntu Intrepid, I can't find "volta" anywhere. The same happens using xpdf. However, pdftotext converts to text successfully, and when I open it with evince (which is the standard PDF viewer for the Gnome desktop) word searches work successfully. Inside Acrobat, if you click File->Properties, you find that the file was made on 18/10/2009 at 16:57:37 by LaTeX with hyperref package, followed by dvips+AFPL Ghostscript 8.53, to the 1.2 PDF standard, readable by Acrobat 3.x.
