Subject: [TeX-Music] Searchability of pdf's

I've noticed a strange "feature" of the version of musixdoc.pdf in the
archive at
http://www.icking-music-archive.org/software/indexmt6.html/musixtex/musixtex
.pdf .

(cut)

I just compared 3 versions of musixdoc.pdf available to me:

     (1) freshly downloaded today from
         http://icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/musixdoc.pdf
     (2) contained in the zip file musixtex114 (which I had downloaded on
Dec '09) and which is dated 09/10/18

These 2 seem identical, and both show the non-searchability (with
     Adobe reader 9.3.1) described by Don;

     (3) a version named mxdoc114a.pdf, dated 08/09/06, which is *longer*
than the previous 2 and which *is* searchable be the Adobe
         reader.

I did not (yet) check for any textual differences between (1)/(2) vs.
(3) .

Perhaps this is a clue in the ongoing detective work!

ccn.

PS: the musixdoc.pdf on
       http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/musixtex/taupin/
dates from 2005-07-30 (!), so naturally I excluded that from my
     survey.
