David you for your message. My apologies for my oversight on your work at
the Howdy Party. You are part of "we"! I hope more cavers (and not just
Texas cavers) will join us soon.

George is correct. In my case, the word "we" was a poor choice.

I was only trying to voice an opinion that maintaining cave fund is
an admirable cause, but the ICS should be the primary focus on
every caver's agenda for the next 13 months.

I can only offer lame excuses why I haven't become involved.
I have committed to helping the organizer of the Howdy Party.

My ICS goals at the moment are:

     1. Take off 2 weeks of work to attend the event.
( forfeiting hundreds of dollars of earned income )

     2. "Work" at the Howdy Party, instead of just relaxing at it.

     3. Spend approximately $ 900 at the event to
purchasing cave gear, books, t-shirts, etc.

     4. Donate $ 100 to some of the various cave preserves.

     5. Go caving - something I haven't done, but once in
            the last 2 years.

     6. Spend about $ 1,000 during the 2 week trip,
for food, gas, lodging, and entertainment, as it will be
            my only vacation in 2009.

     7. To pre-register and pay the cost of that ( hopefully under $ 200
??? )

In summary, I have 13 months to find about $ 2,500 and put it away some
where where I won't spend it. Otherwise, I will have to cut back on
some of the above.

That is all I can think of, off the top of my head.
