These new 1 TB Western Digital Drives fit many current laptops just fine,
and new laptops will be configured to handle them. Western Digital does
warn of the now non-standard thickness of 12.5mm, like the older Thinkpad
hard drives, so a drop-in upgrade won't be possible for all laptops.

– Western Digital is initially offering these up in their My Passport
Essential SE portable USB drives. The duo come with anti-shock protection
and promise extremely low noise levels in operation thanks to its
WhisperDrive technology. The 750 GB's fit ok in a T-65. This is too big of
an announcement for failure so WD is careful on its release.

I think Western Digital had to get them out to temper the noise of the new
SSD's which are capable of many different sizes.

This suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.
