Hello: Throwing out some of the basic suggestions:
Obvious: You and/or the clone SW did not set the Boot Partition to be active. Sorta Obvious: You and/or the clone SW did not properly configure the BPB (Boot Parameter Block) on the drive Not so Obvious: You and/or the clone SW employed disk geometry that is not compatible with your BIOS Also: JIC: Vista/Windows 7 (I'm assuming windows OS) employs different boot characteristics (BCD ?) than XP. You need a different program (EasyBCD?) to set up properly. I used Acronis Home to clone the drive via a USB enclosure. When I put the new drive into the computer and started up, the bios found it, but then nothing happened. All I got was a cursor blinking in the upper left corner after the bios startup and bios security sign-on. I tried using the rescue function of a Windows install CD, but it couldn't see the new drive. The new drive seems to otherwise work. When I boot with the old drive and put the new drive in the USB enclosure, I can see all the files. I have the feeling I'm missing something obvious. Any suggestions? _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
