Thank you, this is very helpful to know -- the X120e is already teased on the Lenovo site, and it seems worth waiting for X220 for the reasons you cited.

Hello,

I am not sure what your time frame for a purchase is, but Lenovo announced
several new ThinkPads at CES2011 which have yet to ship, including the X220
and X120e. I would avoid the latter--I have the previous X100e model and
it is more of a business netbook than a classic ThinkPad X-series--but the
X220 sounds like it will be a decent replacement for the X201 series. It
may take a while to arrive, though, due to chipset delays. On the other
hand, there may be some good deals on X201-series systems in order to
move inventory.

Hi all,

I've been buying Thinkpads dating back to the 600. My biggest gripe with my
most recent, an X61s, is how hot it gets -- and then how loud it gets when
the fan comes on.

I generally get thin/light laptops, preferably with no optical drive. I've
always liked the Thinkpad keyboard and Trackpoint.

Is it possible to get a Thinkpad quality laptop, but with no fan?

Thanks, -Scott
