If I were to buy a Thinkpad with 32 bit Windows 7 on some drive, could I
then move that lWindows license over to SSD, and install it there as 64 bit
instead?

The X301 currently at the outlet has a 64GB SSD -- a bit smaller than I'd

My X301 (purchased in October 2010) came with a Samsung 128 GB SSD and
32-bit Win 7 Pro. I replaced the OS with 64-bit Win 7 Pro and nuked the
recovery partition in the process (I have a full image backup with Acronis
True Image and can recover from that if needed). I'll probably replace the
128 GB SSD with a Crucial 256 GB SSD, which is the largest you can get in
that size format right now.
Cheers, Dominique
