At someone's suggestion, I have abandoned Yahoo as a lost cause. All
New Yahoo is set to automatically forward everything to Gmail, and
then deletes it. Thunderbird then grabs it all flawlessly from Gmail.
Do not need Webmail. I occasionally delete the stuff from Gmail and
Thunderbird.
I will close my Yahoo account at the end of the year,
Of course, the advantage of Thunderbird is the stuff is stored on my
HD so In do not have to go online to read old email.

You can set Gmail to use TrueSwitch (for free) to download all of your
Yahoo email if you want.
1) Log into your gmail account 2) "Settings" on the top right bar
3) Golden screen - "Accounts & Import"
4) Click on "Import from another address" and follow the instructions...
From there it may take a few days but it should import your Yahoo
account over to Gmail.
