That was from a very old thread, and I don't think the observations are
valid anymore.  We've since completely overhauled the Tight encoder.
The original thread was in regards to an observed drop in performance
when switching from RealVNC to TigerVNC.  In response to the original
thread, I conducted my own testing and found that TigerVNC was faster in
every way, even on Hextile and other protocols that both solutions support.
