The main reason for Heliax is the lower loss and longer runs. But it might also last longer becuase water can't wick down a solid shield like it can a braided shield. But aren't GPS antennas designed with the connector on their bottom so you run the coax cable down the pipe. Any coax inside a waterproof metal pipe should last nearly forever. My antenna is typical of most, I think, The N type connector lives inside the mounting flange so it never sees rain or sun. But even if it did the expected life of "normal" RG8 cable laying on a roof top is 20 to 25 years. > > -- > > Chris Albertson > Redondo Beach, California > _______________________________________________ > time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com > To unsubscribe, go to > https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts > and follow the instructions there. > _______________________________________________ > time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com > To unsubscribe, go to > https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts > and follow the instructions there. > -- Chris Albertson Redondo Beach, California _______________________________________________ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
