The NS records and A records in your parent are glue. Because there is a delegation point (that NS record) they cannot speak with authority over anything at or below that point, which is why you can add NS records or additional address records as a superset. Ideally, what you have as your NS records and the DNS server's A and AAAA records should be identical to what your parent has, but most people are ok with the superset requirement. A real DNS server would ask you and only cache what your parent returns as glue, as well. BTW, I wrote major parts of BIND 9. DNS is my thang :) - --Michael -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (MingW32) iD8DBQFGcwYyuzMQWQwZDN0RAtSOAKDH1FWCYFB6Z0MAMGGgY2+VwxihvQCgpLTF GWaVjeobdFzeR8RflcX6zow= =CcZG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ timekeepers mailing list [email protected] https://fortytwo.ch/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/timekeepers
