I currenly have Debian's timidity 2.13.2-18.

Oops, last time I only tried africa.kar with timidity.

   timidity africa.kar
   timidity -in africa.kar

which shows repeated lyric words (midi text events).

Now, I have just tried:

   timidity keycant.mid
timidity "Traditional - Blow The Man Down.kar"
timidity "Traditional - The Band Played On.kar"

   timidity -in keycant.mid
timidity -in "Traditional - Blow The Man Down.kar"
timidity -in "Traditional - The Band Played On.kar"

and timidity only shows lyrics once at the beginning,
some has only one word per line. No lyrics updated as
the notes are played.

For comparison, I use Debian's kmid 4:3.5.8-1, all 4
files play just fine, with proper text display and
highlighting as words are to be sung. Kmid allows
some skip-forward, skip-backward, but withouth
fine-grain control. Skipping forward, or backward
seems to reset the word highlighting just fine.
