the virtual machine discussion is interesting, but not quite what I was after. I really just want to decide whether when running openerp-web and openerp-server (and postgres) on the same machine (with no virtualisation) it is better to run them as the same unix user or different unix users. I still think there is no benefit to running them as the same user and there is a potential risk that can be avoided by separating them. This isn't really about building the perfect production multi-tier infrastructure, just a packaging decision to get more people up and running quicker with the best configuration we can manage.
