[quote="amitsaxena"]Dear All,
   I am trying to setup openerp for my organization. We have different teams
that work on different product lines. I want to ensure that
1) The teams only see the data relevant to them i.e Sales order, Pricelist etc.
2) If possible then create a hierarchy wherein only the designated personnel
and the his/her manager is able to see the relevant information.

   Any help on this will be highly appreciated as this is one of the critical
things that is preventing me from implementing openerp in the organization.

Best regards,

Hi Amit
I am facing the same issue.
I have branches and set them up as sub companies under
administration->users->company structure.
now what i want to do is the same as what you are trying to achieve.
What i did was create a field in res_partner and maped that to category.id, and
created a group with access to that category id.
but the catch is i did it using the pgadmin3 tool and the module creator/field
editor.
but now i cant figure out how to call that field and get it to react to the
users group.
any help ??
( Please also note I have only been using Open ERP for the past 15 days.)
Please try to be as detailed as possible.

thanks in advance
Mustafa
