It is the same. Why is the fuss?... 1. If you would dig deep enough in the OpenERP, you would notice, that there is no other way to add or modify existing report from user interface, just by using proprietary Report Designer. This restriction is enforced intentionally, just to make everybody purchase the "last mile". So no user without programming skills are able to add or change reports, so have to purchase proprietary software, which BTW works solely on and for FOSS. Rendering OpenERP system like proprietary package - probably somebody would argue to this, but if you have to purchase last mile it does not matter if the rest is FOSS.
2. No shared funding project have ever been released for general public. Just as the cost reimbursement chart stays the same for more than a year. 3. Crippling the architecture just to enforce purchase of proprietary software is a clear evidence that Tiny exploit their position. 4. Technically you will never get WYSIWYG result with the report designer. You will not find any report creator/designer software package for ReportLab RML engine, because the design of the RML language is awkward, not to say more.
