That's not true.

Read clauses 2.b,  3.b of GPLv2. They clearly state that any third party is 
eligible to request the full source code of any GPL or GPL-derivative work.

Please, people, realize the exact terms and implication of using GPLv2 and 
GPLv3. I agree that authors of software (free or non-free) are morally allowed 
to make profit of their work. However, we have to guard against abuse of our 
work, that will put us off continuing this task.It is important that we legally 
protect ourselves from those who just want to make quick profit on other 
people's effort.
