I totally agree and this happened with their deliveries in which a separate 
piece of code was necessary but not free. They were still conforming the GPL.
On the other hand, I guess they still own the copyright of the V5 client-web 
and could have forked it under a licence of their choice, still conforming 
licences. This makes their case different from other players.
Nevertheless, as a prescriptor, I will discourage the use of such a solution, 
because they spoil the main free software advantage which is freedom. This 
seems to be common perception anyway and they made themselves stamped as black 
sheep on the local market, worse than they deserve probably.
