Hi, After all the issues I had with the NNTP server (slow access and especially timeouts), I finally found the solution. The problem seem to have been caused by a faulty ADSL Router. Since a few weeks ago, we replaced our router, and haven't had a single issue since. I also asked somebody (that frequently experienced timeouts accessing the old NNTP server) to test again. He could read all new messages in the tiopf.test newsgroup instantly without any problems.
So the question I need to ask... What would you guys prefer? Going back to NNTP (news groups) or stay with the current mailing list setup? There are pros and cons for each, but at this point I don't mind which one we use. At the time I pushed the move to mailing list hard, because I had no idea what was causing the problems in the NNTP server setup. But now that obstacle is solved. As for the message history from the newsgroups. I'm having a uphill battle getting those into a mailing list archive. SourceForge.net gave up, marking my request as closed - without completing the task. I then tried contacting Gmane directly and three weeks later, and I still haven't even got a reply. One thing is for sure, I don't want to discard the message history, because it is a major source of information for tiOPF. Please let me know your thoughts on this...
