Annette- Critical thinking in counselors- I think some do so keep looking! There are too many who adopt a "treatment" and can't think beyond it-see everything through that lens. We went, not for weight, but because we were driving each other batty (we lost three parents and three pets in a very short time and are close on the last parent now). My best wishes to you for attempting change- It is TOUGH!!! I was a "husky" kid. It said so on my jeans!! (Thanks a lot Levis and Sears!!!!) I found that I really liked working out and basically changed my lifestyle. Wasn't easy but it can be done!!! Keep at it!! (Now my spouse says I'm addicted to exercise. Sigh.) So, I'm doing this radical weight loss program through my HMO, Kaiser (yes, I've researched it, as well as the options and think it's the right thing for me) and I have to go to weekly 2 hour group counseling sessions in addition to starving myself (not literally). So far I've asked for two changes of counselors. The first one was big on EMDR and this one, I find out in last night's session is a big fan of NLP. Heaven help us because the psychology profession seems to be sorely lacking in critical thinking skills.
