We've toyed with the idea of requiring a philosophy of science course, but
it met with a variety of resistance from some in our department. Most was
more logistical in nature because of course prereqs for the course which is
offered in the philosophy department...

We do require all majors to take at least 7 hours of biology, including a
lab component. Up until now those seeking a BA took a general into bio
course and zoology (with a lab). For the BS, it was two lab courses (Botany
and Zoology). However, the biology department has recently revised their
course offerings and no longer offer these three courses. In their place
they offer two general bio courses, one with a lab. Exact details of this
change are still be worked out since we never heard about the change until
it happened (poor communication between departments apparently). Those
seeking the BS are also required to take an additional 17 hours of science,
which normally means a minor in one of the sciences.
