Although I haven't used OpenStat, I have heard great things about it.

The most recent version is 3.5.5 (I think based on the last email from Bill
that I've gotten about it.)
I'm using SPSS for my stats class this Spring, but might change to OpenStat
starting this summer. I'm going to be looking at it more indepth this
semester.
