I agree with Nancy.

One thing I see in psychology classes is the general look of horror when I write an equation on the board. I take a portion of my teaching mission to be to show that using mathematical expressions is another way of thinking through problems.

My general phrase when working through some calculations is "Hey, we're psychologists, and psychologists aren't afraid of fractions."
