That does sound like the machine has died, I would say that the hard drive could be bad but it could be almost anything else on the machine too. Make certain that the connection between the TiVo output and the TV set has not been interrupted, i.e. the cables unplugged. OR if the TV set has an input switch try cycling that through all it's positions. If you decide that the DVR has gone by then the only solution is to replace it. I recently saw that TiVo is have a sale on their machines. I saw one for about $69,xx Jim
