Of course theere is no such thing as strain on an electronic device. TiVo
uses Linux as the OS. But it is transparent. Computers sometimes
spontandously reboot because of things like excessive heat. I the machine
well ventilated?

Drives don't fail very often but they do occasionally fail. Memory problems
may cause rebooting I think. I don't know of any troubleshooting tools on
the TiBo.
