Thanks to those who responded to my query: Michael, Glen, MZ and Jason. All good information!
What I was hoping to be able to do was share programs between units: watch a program "downstairs" that was recorded "upstairs." Each unit would still "call home" over the phone line. However, I think I will wait until I get a wireless router and then link everything together and truly join the 21st century! Glen wrote: > Why no dsl or cable ? I have two phone lines coming into the house; one used primarily for voice, and one shared among TiVos, computer, fax machine, and the occasional voice call. Unfortunately, the telephone company says there is a "light short" on both lines, one worse than the other. So far I have not been able to isolate the problem(s) in the house wiring. When I find the problem(s), and wire around it/them, I intend to sign up for DSL through my ISP, as they offer it for the same price. Thanks again for the help.
