TiVo may refer the 3rd party boxes to their respective vendors - Humax, Toshiba, Pioneer. I'm not sure if TiVo provides repair service for those or just their own units. I suspect they do, it makes more sense for them to do it than for each vendor to setup their own repair group. As far as I know TiVo used to include the transfer in the OOW repair cost. The user reporting an additional charge in the thread is interesting, I'm waiting to hear if they did something odd like got a different kind of replacement unit than the one that broke.
