Once upon a time Jay Abraham shaped the electrons to say... > I went to watch some recorded shows on the Tivo this morning. When > TV turned on it looked like it was frozen on a Live TV picture and > the remote could not control the TV. I unplugged unit and tried to > repower but it goes to grey screen saying powering up and never > leaves it.
If you actually get a screen with text the board is likely OK. When a TiVo boots there are a couple of boot screens that come up. The very first one is from the BIOS on the board itself. The next screen that loads comes from the drive. So if you get the first screen and it never gets past there that's pretty much always a drive failure. First thing to do is open it up and check all the cable connections. And you might be able to tell if the drive spins up at all - either by sound or vibration. Just be careful when working inside with power connected - the power supply is exposed and can seriously ruin your day. -MZ -- megazone-at-megazone.org http://www.MegaZone.org/ Gweep, Geek, Human, me. http://www.GizmoLovers.com/ http://www.Eyrie-Productions.com/ -><- Hail Eris "A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men" 508-852-2171
