The pump looks like a steel hockey puck with a rubber window in the center and a cannula connection on the side. To refill it the doctor sticks a thin needle through the skin through the rubber window into the pump’s drug reservoir. Between the needle and the syringe is a micron filter to block bacteria that might be in the medicine.
