I, too, really enjoyed the Casey/April relationship. I think they've done it just
perfectly. It's obvious they like each other, but also that there's friction--it
makes the relationship interesting and complex. Much more than I could have hoped for.

This wasn't my favorite episode because it seemed so condensed. Like when April's
telling the guys about that the robbery was on her block and "that's why I've invited
you here tonight;" it was just such an "info. dump." If the plot wasn't so condensed
that would have played out naturally. Or even just a simple montage of April reading
the paper (or seeing a news report), her calling the turtles, them agreeing to come
would have handled that scene much more effectively. (Yes, I realize I'm highly
critical and nit-picky, deal with it.)
The story itself, though, was terrific. It was complex and I was amazed. There's a
lot of cartoon shows on the air now that I just don't understand. Take the Fox Block
lineup, Fighting Foodons and Ultimate Muscle, for example. I just do not get the
appeal of these shows (nor do I want to, if someone reading is a fan of these shows,
I'm just illustrating a point). TMNT, however, is cleverly written. I'm telling you,
on the level of plot and character, it ranks with Buffy writing (the highest
compliment I can give). Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a complex TMNT
cartoon.
>> ~Maybe we need to start a petition to beg "THEM" to make this an hour-long show.<<
See, I actually think this would solve all their problems. Plus it would keep the
shows complex because they'd have more time to develop plot lines. I think the reason
why it's not an hour long show is because it is mainly directed at kids. It seems to
be thought that kids don't have a long enough attention span for that. Of course the
argument is that the show is obviously also directed at adults also since they keep
making references to the original Star Trek, comic book puns, and even a subtle Star
Wars reference ("I know it's been said before, but I've got a bad feeling about
this."--thank you, Mikey). They should consider it.
And as for the theme song, it's grown on me. Mostly because I can use it to annoy my
boyfriend whenever he's misbehaving. Of course he is the one that bought me Raph and
Leo. Then he went out and bought the Battle Shell and Sewer Slider for himself
because "they're cool."
