My pet peeve of late is "hissed", since lot so people who write for
Raph also say that.  But... hissing makes an 'sss' sound, and if you
don't have anything to make a hissing noise, then that's the wrong
description to use.

Hissing: "Where'ssssss my Preciousssss?!" 

           ~Lol! Ok, I'm guilty of that one. And I *know* better. But...but...hissing is so wonderfully descriptive of the emotional content, albeit, not the actual sound.



Or this.. also redundant:  "Wow, I got it!" he shouted.  The
exclamation point pretty much states that the person is already
shouting, so there's no real need to reinterate.  In that case, a body
action would be better, like "he jumped up and down".

      ~Yeah, much more better! "Show, don't tell."!
