mod_auth_sspi seems to solve the NTLM issue fairly nicely.
The political reasons are, however, without any technical basis and thus cannot realistically be addressed save through placation....
Having just spent over a week getting IIS 6 and isapi_redirect working for a complex system, I've got mixed feelings here. I'd like this to keep working (ideally without any "IIS 5 isolation mode" workarounds) and placating customers, but overall I think Apache 2 is better solution and a better use of the community's time. Now if someone could take over ownership/maintenance for mod_auth_sspi, I'd feel better about IIS support slowly withering away....

Hi,
I think we do have agreement on droping IIS/iPlanet.
Does this mean that in the future there won't be a way to integrate tomcat to IIS ? We have some customers that require use of IIS as frontend (for either political reasons or they want to use integrated windows authentication feature of IIS).
Of course there are commercial products for this, but tomcat has just been a very good companion to IIS in our systems. So I hope that someone maintains some kind of solution for IIS integration.
