Not very often, actually. If it weren't for automatic updates, I probably would never reboot it. (lately, if it weren't for automatic updates, I would probably never even use that machine)
And so I think the red herring hypothesis is probably a good one. The reboot was for the most recent critical update (and only that update). The local site staff did some research and had a quick look, but they didn't have any other ideas (aside from the standard "you can reinstall Windows over top... that shouldn't hurt anything... maybe it will help"). For kicks, I logged into another machine with my domain account. That machine did *NOT* have the overlay icons... So I don't know WHERE the icons are coming from. There must be some hidden icon cache SOMEWHERE other than the IconCache.db. That might explain why I see the icons for domain-related folders even on the local account. Is there a GLOBAL icon cache somewhere? --Ted Peer Sommerlund wrote: > > 2008/10/28 Adrian Buehlmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>> > > > The probably most interesting thing that happened on the Windows > update is > a reboot (provided it was an update that required a reboot, like the > recent Gimmiv.A RPC worm security fix by MS). > > > Ted, how often do you reboot your Windows XP? > -- Ted Pavlic <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Tortoisehg-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/tortoisehg-discuss
