Yes, reserving the IP on the router is easier, but no, not all routers
have that feature. Moreover, that's not a "true" static IP, it's a
reserved IP or "static DHCP" (which I realize is an oxymoron). Some
people find true static IP gives more stability than static DHCP,
especially if the DHCP server and/or client implementations are
sub-par.
