On the 24/96 FLAC files that shutter, do you know what compression level was used? The Touch when in Standalone Mode is using just about all of its resources and can't reliably play 24/96 FLAC files with -8 compression. Best to convert 24/96 FLAC files to -5 for use with the Touch. -8 Compression needs a bunch of CPU time and very little space is actually saved by using anything above -5.
