Now that is fascinating. The only thing that I can think of is that the
drive has very bursty current demands and the stock supply is not doing
that good a job of dealing with such a current demand and is drooping
when seeing a large current pulse. I'd like to see what the voltage
coming out of the two regulators looks like when the drive is running.


I don't have any bus powered drives myself (just external powered ones)
so I can't do the test. 

On a completely different subject, on the Ref5 do you have the DSP-1
version or the DF version? If the DSP-1 have you tried the different
filter settings on the DSP board? I'd love to hear someones impression
of the different settings.
