I use this as a leftover from my sb3 days the Touch psu is now powering my SB3 .
http://www.ciaudio.com/products/VDCSB It is rated as 2.2 amps so I gues that powering USB drive is out, but it does not run hot at all so it has some margin in it. So more than2 amps is probably the lower limit of reliable operation i had a positive consumer experience with CI Audio so they are ok to do bussines with, as usual with hifi mfg companies a grain of salt goes well with the product statements.
