Thanks again for your detailed response, JJZolx. The USB source media is a controlled item and will only have the 15 or so tracks on it. I would hope in this scenario scanning would be fast.
For reference, 99% of competitors use a standard car cd/dvd deck. This removes any risk of putting a judge in a bad mood due to usability issues :). This is the main reason I need a simple solution.
