+1.  I too want all my stuff to be available on my ipods/iphones/ipads.
But my approach has not been to create ALAC versions. Rather, I rip to
FLAC, use FLAC for my SB stuff and for playing via my desktop computer
at work.  For my iSTUFF, I create a mirror directory of mp3 files (all
done in batches with a couple of clicks in dbpoweramp, including
transferring all tags/art).  Easy enough to keep track up once set up.
And I don't really need lossless files on my iThings.
