I also use the touch connected to a usb drive with no issues. The good thing is that you don't have to swich on any kind of pc/nas so you are completely independent and less consuming electricity. The bad thing is that when you want to transfer more music, you have to unplug the the drive and reescan again. The soft will not crash if you do one thing at a time.:)
