I've been trying to get an orange pi 3b server set up and sent off to one of the
pi hosting places for a while, but I've been short of spoons the past few 
months...

Indeed. I'm happy to delegate this sort of thing to domain experts, not because
I can't do it but because it eats your life if you let it and then you notice
you haven't updated it in 2 years...

Half the point of git is you can publish it multiple places and it theoretically
just works. Torvalds himself has kernel.org as well as
https://github.com/torvalds/linux (and maybe elsewhere?)
