Howdy,

there is also this: https://projects.developer.nokia.com/multiproject
This plugin/setup is being used to host environments with thousands of trac 
projects.
There are several limitations (MySQL only for example) but it does work quite 
well.

Ok I can help preparing a proposition for funding. I would just like the 
opinion of Trac core developers about this before starting anything.

I just had a look and it seems that changes from Trac are planned to be 
incorporated in Bloodhound.
However the reverse is not really done yet (or maybe I have not looked hard 
enough).

It would be better not to end up with 2 different implementations for this 
MultiProject feature.

But well I have read a little on the history behind these 2 projects and I 
understand that it is not that simple.
It reminds me of the the history behind Sylpheed and Sylpheed-Claws/Claws-Mail.
