If you don't need digi features or anything else specific to the T2, you could get by with the bare FC-301/D and save some money.
The N1VG-14 test station is now on the roof, connected to an old Alinco DJ-F1T in an ammo can and running on a 5W solar panel with a 7 or 8 AH battery. Should be good for about a week with no sun. I'm thinking about trying a basic fan-aspirated setup - should add 1/4 to 1/3 watt for a 1.2 to 1.5 CFM fan, still doable at 5W, at least here in California.
